About AutoSearch
Also known as: MSInfoSys, AutoSearchBHO
AutoSearch is an IE Browser Helper Object that hijacks
address-bar searches. It knows about some of the other
prevalent search-hijackers -- IGetNet
, CommonName and NewDotNet
--and will steal back any address bar searches they take over.
Removal Instructions
Automatic Removal:
AutoSearch can be detected and removed Automatically
by Spyware Doctor, also SpyEraser.
Manual Removal:
Follow these steps to remove AutoSearch from your
machine. Begin by backing up your registry and your system,
and/or setting a Restore Point, to prevent trouble if you make
a mistake.
- Unregister these DLLs with Regsvr32, then reboot:
systemroot+\system32\safesearch.dll
systemroot+\system\safesearch.dll
autosearch.dll
- Remove these registry items (if present) with RegEdit:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.wink
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\clsid\{00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000001}
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\dting file
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\explorer

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\wink file
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\clsid\{00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000001}
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\classes\clsid\{00000000-0000-0000-0000
-000000000001}
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\internet explorer\toolbar\{00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000001}

- Remove these files (if present) with Windows Explorer:

autosearch.dll
- After
following the instructions above, you will still need to
restore your original settings and prevent this from
