CoolWebSearch.mtwirl32, also called Trojan.Bookmarker.C or CWS.Smartfinder, can change many of your internet settings, such as your home page, search page, but also the Default, Home, WWW, and Mosaic prefix.


Removal Instructions
Automatic Removal:

CWS.mtwirl32 can be detected and removed Automatically by SpyEraser.

Manual Removal:

Follow these steps to remove CWS.mtwirl32 from your machine. Begin by backing up your registry and your system, and/or setting a Restore Point, to prevent trouble if you make a mistake.

  1. Start your computer in safe mode.
     
  2. Rename %SystemDir%\mtwirl32.dll to %SystemDir%\delme.delme
    Note: %SystemDir% is a variable. By default, this is C:\Windows\System (Windows 95/98/Me), C:\WINNT\System32 (Windows NT/2000), or C:\Windows\System32 (Windows XP).
     
  3. Start your computer in safe mode.
     
  4. Delete
    %SystemDir%\delme.delme
    Note: %SystemDir% is a variable. By default, this is C:\Windows\System (Windows 95/98/Me), C:\WINNT\System32 (Windows NT/2000), or C:\Windows\System32 (Windows XP).
     
  5. Restart your computer in normal mode.
     
  6. Now you can change your Internet Settings back to their normal values.
