About PowerScan
PowerScan has been around for some time, advertised through
in ordinary web pop-ups, but recently it started to install
with help from the the ISTBar adware.
Removal Instructions
Automatic Removal:
PowerScan adware can be detected and removed Automatically
by SpyEraser.
Manual Removal:
Follow these steps to remove PowerScan from your machine. Begin
by backing up your registry and your system, and/or setting a
Restore Point, to prevent trouble if you make a mistake.
- Kill these running processes with Task Manager:
c:\program files\power scan\powerscan.exe
programfilesdir+\power scan\powerscan.exe
- Go to the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run.
- Remove these registry items (if present) with RegEdit:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\powerscan\account_id
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\powerscan\{4e7bd74f-2b8d-469e-dbfc-ed1ca787ad2d}
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\run\power scan
- Remove these files (if present) with Windows Explorer:
programfilesdir+\power scan
